About Dennis

Growth is coming to McLendon Chisholm.

The real question is whether we guide that growth or will we allow it to change the very character of our community.

Families didn’t choose this city by accident. They chose it for the open spaces, the quiet, and the freedom that comes with living here. They worked hard to build a life in this community, and they expect their city government to protect it.

That’s why I stepped forward to fill a vacant seat last year, and I got to work immediately. Because I believe the city council works for the people, not the other way around, and every decision should reflect the long term interests of the residents who call this city home.

Since taking office, I’ve focused on what matters most:

  • Fiscal discipline - I believe government should live within its means, just like the families it serves. That means building responsible budgets, controlling unnecessary spending, and making sure every dollar is used to support core city functions and services. At the same time, we have to ensure the city continues to operate smoothly and efficiently without creating new financial burdens for our residents.
  • Infrastructure before expansion - Growth without infrastructure is not a plan, it’s a problem. Roads, water, drainage, and public safety must be in place before development moves forward. I have been focused on making sure we plan ahead, not play catch up, so that growth strengthens our city instead of straining it.
  • Protecting residents from outside pressure - Not everyone pushing for change in our city has to live with the consequences of it. I will continue to stand up for our residents and make sure decisions are made based on what is best for this community, not what benefits outside interests looking to take advantage of it.

Talk is cheap - action speaks louder than words.

I authored the city’s updated extra territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) subdivision ordinance to ensure that development outside city limits follows clear and enforceable standards that protect our infrastructure, existing property owners, and the long term future of McLendon Chisholm.

My approach is simple and consistent. Listen to the residents. Ask the hard questions. Stand firm when it matters. And make decisions based on what is right for the community, not what is easy or politically convenient.

My wife and I chose McLendon Chisholm for the same reasons so many others did. We value the open spaces, the privacy, and the quality of life this city provides. And we understand that protecting those things takes leadership that is willing to stand up and do the work.

Because as growth comes, the goal is not to change McLendon Chisholm...

The goal is to protect it.
